Looking for thermal overload relay manufacturers in Yueqing? This guide profiles ten Yueqing companies that publish thermal overload relays, bimetallic overload relays or closely related motor-protection families. It is written for buyers comparing relays for pumps, fans, conveyors, compressors, machine tools and other three-phase motor starters.
A thermal overload relay responds to sustained overload current and normally opens a control contact to stop the starter. It is not the same product as a motor protection circuit breaker, a contactor or a general-purpose control relay. Some catalogues also include electronic overload relays, phase-failure relays and motor protectors. Start with the required function, then compare the setting range, trip class, reset method, auxiliary contacts, matching contactor and the standard evidence for the exact model.
How this list was selected: Official product, contact and document pages were reviewed on 23 October 2026. The order is a research shortlist, not a quality, price, certification, export or “best” ranking. A product category, company address or family-level standard claim does not prove that BottomRace has audited every factory or that every model carries every approval. Confirm the legal entity, production site, exact model, current certificate and test scope before ordering.

Manufacturer profiles and questions to ask
1. CHINT Electrics
Short name: CHINT
Published location: CHINT Industrial Zone, North Baixiang, Yueqing
CHINT publishes the NXR thermal overload relay for three-phase AC motors, with overload, phase-loss and current-imbalance protection. The product page lists a 0.1 A to 630 A current-setting span across the family, trip class 10A, temperature compensation, manual or automatic reset, a trip indicator and 1NO plus 1NC auxiliary contacts. NXR relays can be plugged into compatible CHINT contactors or mounted on an independent base. CHINT's published CB certificates for the NXR-25 and NXR-38 identify the model range, ratings, standard and Yueqing production address. Treat those documents as model-specific evidence, not as proof that every NXR frame and accessory has the same approval.
Before requesting a quote: Send the motor nameplate current, voltage, frequency, starting method, acceleration time, starts per hour, ambient temperature and required trip class. State whether the relay will be mounted directly on a contactor or separately. Ask for the exact NXR frame, setting range, matching contactor, auxiliary-contact arrangement, reset mode, terminal capacity, torque and dimensions. Request the certificate or test document that names the offered model, ratings and production site, plus the legal seller for your quotation.

Compare thermal overload relays on the complete motor starter
A thermal overload relay is selected around the motor, the contactor and the fault protection in the starter. Do not compare only the frame current or the largest number in a catalogue. Send every candidate the same motor data and ask for a model-specific quotation with written deviations.
| Include in your enquiry | Ask each supplier to confirm |
|---|---|
| Motor data | Rated output, full-load current, service factor, voltage, frequency, poles, efficiency, starting current and starting duration from the motor nameplate and datasheet. |
| Current setting | Adjustable thermal range that contains the motor full-load current, setting resolution, scale marking and the effect of ambient temperature and enclosure. |
| Trip class | Trip class and time-current behaviour, including whether the offered model is class 10A or another declared class, and how the class changes with the starting duty. |
| Protection functions | Overload protection, phase-loss or phase-imbalance response, trip indication, test and stop functions, and whether the product is bimetallic or electronic. |
| Reset and operation | Manual or automatic reset, reset lever or button, free-trip behaviour, and whether the reset mode can be changed without removing the relay. |
| Auxiliary contacts | Number and form of NO and NC contacts, electrical rating, isolation arrangement, terminal identification and whether the contacts are fixed or add-on. |
| Contactor coordination | Matching contactor series and frame, direct plug-in or separate mounting, mechanical interface, recommended fuse and any published starter combination. |
| Voltage and frequency | Rated insulation voltage, rated operational voltage, frequency, impulse withstand voltage and the actual supply conditions at the installation. |
| Mounting and connection | Panel or DIN-rail mounting, separate base, terminal capacity, conductor type, tightening torque, dimensions, clearance and replacement compatibility. |
| Environment | Ambient temperature, altitude, humidity, pollution degree, enclosure protection and any derating required inside the panel. |
| Standards and documents | Applicable IEC 60947-4-1 requirements and any declared IEC 60947-5-1 auxiliary-contact requirements; request the datasheet, certificate, test report or declaration that names the exact model and ratings. |
| Commercial and factory data | Legal seller, production site, MOQ, sample charge, packaging, lead time, warranty, change-control procedure and the documents supplied with each batch. |
Do not choose a relay by frame size alone. A 25 A frame may contain several thermal elements with very different setting ranges, and a 93 A frame may include a low-current element. Start with the motor full-load current, then check the setting range, trip class and contactor interface. The setting should sit comfortably within the selected scale rather than permanently at the bottom or top.
Separate the relay from the complete starter. A relay may be sold alone, supplied with a contactor or selected as part of an assembled starter. Ask the supplier to identify the exact combination and the prospective fault current covered by its coordination table. A relay tested by itself does not automatically make every contactor-plus-relay combination suitable for the site fault level.
Read the document, not just the logo. A website may cite IEC 60947-4-1, GB 14048.4, CE or another reference for a family. For approval, request the current document that names the offered model and ratings. Check whether it covers the production site and whether the marking on the sample matches the quotation. Market-access requirements differ by destination, so involve your compliance adviser where the motor starter is safety-critical.
What to inspect during a thermal overload relay factory visit
Arrange the visit after the supplier has answered the technical schedule and identified the production site for the exact model. A relay factory may combine bimetallic-element assembly, calibration, contact assembly, moulding, terminal assembly, testing and packing. Follow the route that applies to your order rather than judging only the showroom sample.
- Bring the motor brief: include the motor nameplate, starting method, full-load current, voltage, frequency, trip class, ambient temperature, contactor and target-market requirements.
- Review incoming parts: check bimetallic elements, contacts, springs, terminals, moulded parts, labels and packaging against the approved bill of materials.
- Observe calibration: ask how the thermal setting is adjusted, which reference pieces are used, how often the station is checked and how calibration drift is controlled.
- Inspect assembly controls: look for poka-yoke, torque control, contact alignment, terminal security, screw retention and protection against mixing different thermal elements or frame variants.
- Review routine tests: confirm the dielectric test, mechanical operation, trip test, setting check and other tests specified for the exact product and standard.
- Compare the sample: verify the label, model, setting range, voltage, trip class, standard reference, terminal markings, auxiliary contacts and reset mode against the quotation.
- Check traceability: link the finished relay or batch to critical components, calibration records, test results, carton labels and the production date.
- What a visit proves: a factory visit provides observations and answers, not a type test, certification review or guarantee of future quality. Keep design verification, product testing and market-access review as separate workstreams.

Questions thermal overload relay buyers often ask
Is a thermal overload relay the same as an MPCB?
No. A thermal overload relay normally senses sustained overload current and operates a control contact to stop the starter. An MPCB combines a manually operated switching mechanism with overload protection and a magnetic short-circuit trip in one device. Their functions, test requirements and panel arrangements are different. Do not substitute one for the other merely because the current ratings overlap.
Can I use a general-purpose relay for motor overload protection?
No. A general-purpose relay is intended for control and signal switching. A thermal overload relay has a current-sensing element, a defined time-current characteristic and application data intended for motor protection. Use the product designed for the duty and check its setting range, trip class, auxiliary contacts and contactor coordination.
What is the difference between the frame current and the setting range?
The frame current describes the physical and electrical frame size. The setting range describes the adjustable thermal element inside that frame. A 25 A frame may contain a 0.1-0.16 A element or a much higher range, while a 93 A frame may include a low-current element. Select the setting range around the motor full-load current and do not use the frame number as the protected current.
Why does trip class matter?
The trip class describes the time-current behaviour of the overload protection and therefore affects how the relay behaves during motor starting and a sustained overload. A class 10A relay is common in general motor-control applications, but heavy-duty, high-inertia or frequent-starting duties may require a different declared class or additional engineering review. Confirm the class for the exact model rather than assuming it from the series name.
Should the relay be mounted on the contactor or separately?
Direct contactor mounting saves panel space and can simplify the starter assembly, while separate mounting may be needed for a different frame, wiring arrangement, heat exposure or maintenance access. Ask for the matching contactor and mounting base, check the terminal clearances and confirm that the combination is covered by the manufacturer’s published coordination information.
Does an IP20 relay body make the starter outdoor-rated?
No. IP20 describes protection against access to hazardous parts and a defined level of solid-object ingress; it does not make the relay weatherproof. If the starter is installed outdoors, in a washdown area or in a dusty environment, select a suitable enclosure and check the resulting temperature rise, corrosion exposure and operating conditions. The enclosure rating and the relay-body rating are separate.
Are these companies ranked by quality, price or export volume?
No. This is a research shortlist based on published product, location and document information. It is not a quality, price, certification, export or “best” ranking. Send every supplier the same motor data, compare deviations and documents, and verify the legal entity and production site before ordering.
