For a Yueqing soft starter manufacturer shortlist, compare CHINT, PEOPLE, TENGEN, CHZIRI, SAIKONG, Chuanken, SOSIAT, NENA, Long Road and Winston. These ten companies publish semiconductor motor soft starters, including built-in-bypass, external-bypass and on-line product families. The table below identifies their published ranges and the first question to settle before requesting a quotation.

For a meaningful comparison, describe the complete start cycle: motor full-load current, supply voltage, driven load, starting-current limit, acceleration time and repeat-start interval. A matching kW label does not establish matching starting capability. Also state whether you are buying a soft-starter unit or a wired cabinet with protection, bypass and controls. For a wider comparison of starting methods, see our Yueqing motor starter guide.

How this list was selected: Official product, catalogue and contact pages were reviewed on 23 October 2026. The order is a research shortlist, not a quality, price, certification, export or “best” ranking. Confirm the legal entity, factory, exact model and current supporting documents before ordering. Listing a company does not mean BottomRace has audited its production or verified every published rating.

Manufacturer profiles and sourcing questions

1. Zhejiang CHINT Electrics Co., Ltd.

Short name: CHINT
Published location: No. 1 CHINT Road, CHINT Industrial Zone, North Baixiang, Yueqing

CHINT publishes separate NJR2-D, NJR2-T and NJR2-ZX soft-starter families. The NJR2-D page describes controlled starting and stopping of three-phase squirrel-cage induction motors, with multiple starting modes and an external bypass contactor. NJR2-ZX is presented as an on-line alternative, while NJR2-T addresses a different supply-voltage class. This distinction matters when comparing cabinet cost and heat management. CHINT provides catalogues and manuals by family; use the document for the offered model rather than combining ratings from different NJR2 pages. Its NJR2-D manual identifies the Yueqing company address.

Before requesting a quote: Send the motor nameplate, load type, starting current, acceleration time and restart schedule. Request the exact NJR2 model, voltage class, bypass requirement, overload settings, control supply and derating. Ask for the selected upstream protective device, current manual and documents naming the offered model and production site.

Official sources: NJR2-D soft starter · NJR2-ZX on-line soft starter · company contact details.

2. People Electrical Appliance Group Co., Ltd.

Short name: PEOPLE
Published location: No. 555 Liule Road, Liushi, Yueqing

PEOPLE publishes the RDZR8-SP bypass soft starter and a separate RDJR6 motor soft-starter range. These are semiconductor motor-control products, distinct from the magnetic starters and manual motor protectors elsewhere in the catalogue. The RDZR8-SP product page and RDJR6 manual give buyers identifiable families to put into an enquiry. Ask PEOPLE to specify the actual bypass hardware and protection functions for the selected unit. A product called a bypass soft starter may still need an incoming protective device, isolation, control wiring and an enclosure to complete the installation.

Before requesting a quote: Identify the motor current, operating voltage, driven equipment and start frequency. Request the complete model code, starting-duty rating, bypass circuit, overload functions during running, fault outputs, control supply and terminal diagram. If buying a cabinet, obtain an itemized parts list and the factory's assembly-test scope.

Official sources: RDZR8-SP bypass soft starter · RDJR6 official manual · company contact details.

3. TENGEN Electric

Short name: TENGEN
Published location: Sulv Industrial Zone, Liushi, Yueqing

TENGEN's TGS3 page describes a soft starter using a silicon-controlled rectifier (SCR) module to control three-phase induction-motor starting and stopping. It lists protection functions including overload, phase loss, prolonged starting-current limitation and supply-voltage faults, together with supply and environmental conditions. The page also links a dedicated TGS3 catalogue. For sourcing, use that family-specific material to establish the required starting duty and cabinet arrangement. TENGEN's TGS51 enclosed DOL starter is a separate product and should not be used as the soft-starter specification.

Before requesting a quote: State supply voltage and frequency, motor current, load inertia, acceleration time and starts per hour. Request the selected TGS3 rating, current-limit and stop modes, bypass arrangement, overload setting and cooling clearances. Confirm which functions and external protective devices are included in the quoted configuration.

Request the current wiring diagram, cabinet heat-management requirements and supported upstream protective device.

Official sources: WSTRD-F3000 built-in-bypass range · WSTR3000 external-bypass range · company contact details.

Soft starter quotation checklist

Send each supplier the same duty schedule and require a written model selection with any exceptions. Treat an ordinary start, a long high-inertia start and several consecutive hot restarts as different specifications.

Include in your enquiry Ask each supplier to confirm
Motor and driven load Nameplate voltage, frequency and full-load current; motor connection, load type, loaded or unloaded starting, inertia and required acceleration or stopping behaviour.
Starting-duty schedule Required starting current, starting duration, starts per hour, minimum interval between starts, consecutive cold and hot starts, and the selected unit’s published capability for that duty.
Supply and control voltages Main-circuit voltage class and tolerance, frequency, separate control supply, digital-input voltage and any required control transformer or power supply.
Bypass architecture Built-in bypass, external bypass or continuous on-line operation; exact contactor where applicable, bypass command and feedback, protection during bypass and replacement access.
Motor connection In-line or inside-delta connection, approved motor terminal arrangement, model eligibility, current-setting convention and a wiring diagram for the exact configuration.
Starting and stopping modes Voltage ramp, current limit, adaptive or other available modes, their load limitations, soft-stop behaviour and the settings recommended for the stated machine.
Motor protection Overload model and trip class, phase-loss or imbalance response, locked-rotor or start-time monitoring where available, reset mode and protection that remains active after bypass.
Fault protection and isolation Prospective fault current, specified fuse or circuit breaker, semiconductor-protection requirements, line contactor or isolator, declared coordination and supporting evidence for that combination.
Cooling and installation Losses and cooling requirements in each operating mode, cabinet temperature, clearance, ventilation, altitude and ambient derating, orientation and complete-assembly IP rating.
Controls and integration Local/remote selection, PLC inputs, run/bypass/trip outputs, communication protocol and register map, remote keypad, event logs and behaviour after power restoration.
Documents and verification Current model manual, datasheet, circuit drawings, parameter list, applicable IEC 60947-4-2 edition, test evidence and destination-market documents for the supplied configuration.
Supply and factory scope Unit or complete cabinet, legal manufacturer and seller, production site, parts list, firmware version, routine-test records, approved substitutions, lead time, warranty and spare-parts availability.

Compare current, time and repetition together. A quoted current limit is only useful with its permitted starting time and restart schedule. A bypass contactor reduces semiconductor losses during normal running, but it does not remove the heating produced during repeated starts. Ask for the manufacturer’s starting-capacity data at the specified ambient temperature. The ABB Softstarter Handbook explains why starting current, starting time and overload protection must be considered together.

Define what “on-line” means in the offered circuit. Supplier terminology varies. Obtain the power diagram and confirm whether the semiconductors carry current continuously or whether a contactor bypasses them after acceleration. Ask who supplies that contactor and how overload monitoring continues during bypass. Cabinet losses, wiring, service access and protection can change with the answer.

Match the standard and documents to the unit. IEC 60947-4-2 addresses semiconductor motor controllers, starters and soft starters. Ask which edition and model configuration the supplier’s documents cover. A website logo or an IEC reference is not evidence that every size, bypass option or assembled cabinet has the same approval. Motor fault detection also does not establish the short-circuit interruption capability of the installation.

Where separate components are part of the specification, our Yueqing contactor guide and motor protection circuit breaker guide can help identify additional sources. Select the actual protective combination from the soft-starter manufacturer’s instructions and coordination evidence.

What to check during a soft starter factory visit

Agree the model, starting-duty schedule and supply scope before visiting. Ask the supplier to identify which stages it performs itself: controller design, circuit-board assembly, power-module assembly, bypass integration, cabinet wiring, parameter loading and final testing.

  • Trace critical components: compare thyristor or SCR modules, bypass contactors, current sensors, fans, power boards and terminals with the approved parts list. Review how substitutions are controlled.
  • Review the power assembly: ask about heatsink preparation, thermal-interface materials, mounting and terminal torque, clearances, busbar insulation and protective-earthing connections.
  • Check firmware and parameters: link the hardware revision, firmware version, motor-current entry, start/stop mode, overload settings and restart behaviour to the approved configuration.
  • Watch functional verification: ask how the factory checks start, run, bypass, stop and trip signals. Review phase-loss, overtemperature and other declared protection checks appropriate to that model.
  • Understand the load test: identify the actual test current, motor or test equipment, starting time, number of cycles and acceptance criteria. A control-circuit simulation alone does not demonstrate starting performance under load.
  • Inspect cabinet delivery: verify the incoming protection, bypass wiring, interlocks, ventilation, entry points and operator panel against the approved schematic and enclosure rating.
  • Follow the records: link serial numbers, component batches, parameter files, calibration and test results to the finished units, manuals and packing labels.

A factory visit helps you assess the production process and ask questions about the order. Use model-specific tests and certification documents to evaluate the declared performance and market requirements separately.

Questions soft starter buyers ask

Can I choose a soft starter by motor kW alone?

Use motor kW as an initial catalogue reference, then verify full-load current at the actual supply voltage and the complete starting duty. Ask the supplier to select against starting current, acceleration time, start frequency and installation temperature. Two units with the same kW label can have different permitted start cycles.

Does built-in bypass remove the need for upstream protection?

No. Bypass describes the current path after acceleration. The installation still needs the protective and isolation devices required by the manufacturer’s circuit and the applicable installation rules. Request the exact fuse or breaker, supported fault level, overload protection during bypass and the complete wiring diagram.

Can every soft starter be connected inside delta?

No. The motor must have the required accessible terminals and winding arrangement, and the starter must explicitly support the connection. Use the selected model’s diagram and setting instructions. Do not apply an assumed current-setting factor to a model whose manual describes a different sensing or parameter convention.

Should I always select the lowest starting-current limit?

The setting must allow the motor to accelerate the actual load within the permitted time. A lower current setting can leave insufficient accelerating torque and extend the start. Ask the supplier to justify the recommended current limit and ramp for the load, together with the motor’s and starter’s thermal limits.

Can one soft starter start several motors in sequence?

Only where the manufacturer supports the proposed circuit, cumulative starting duty and control sequence. Each motor needs the required protection, and the switching and bypass logic must be engineered for the arrangement. Submit all motor currents, start times, order of operation and restart conditions for written selection.

Does a soft starter provide continuous variable-speed control?

A conventional soft starter controls starting and stopping at the supply frequency. If continuous speed regulation is required, evaluate a variable frequency drive against the process duty. State this requirement before buying a soft starter or comparing cabinet prices.
